About Us

Sheriff Sandy Horton has been Sheriff of Crawford County since 1995 and has served the Department for a total of 29 years. He started with the Department as a Dispatcher/Jailer, then promoted to a Deputy Sheriff, then to Chief Deputy, then to Undersheriff. He currently has a Department consisting of 33 Officers, 10 Dispatchers, 20 Correctional Officers, and 8 Office Staff. The Jail was built in 1998 and has a capacity for 102 inmates. The jail has Medical Staff, Juvenile Intake Staff, Inmate Service Staff, and Kitchen Staff. The Sheriff is responsible for the dispatching of all medical calls, the County 911 system, 17 Fire Departments, and 4 Police Departments.
